A Month Well Spent
52
Bars of Steel, or 30 days well Spent
Sitting by the phone waiting for the ring,
another month without a job and no cash to pay the rent.
Hundreds, maybe thousands of resumes
and nothing has bore fruit.
Come on phone,
let me here you sing!
The wife and I labor throughout each day,
her with her designs and me typing away.
Nothing to show for our labor,
but the love for one another.
Come on phone, give us a RING!
Another day in line looking to sweat.
A ten dollar day for a fat man.
He is smarter than I as the proof shows now,
I am working for him,
Not the other way around.
He snickers and is condescending to those
who are fool enough to work for little compensation.
No insurance,
No vacation,
Just a nation of fools living in a European past.
“If you don’t like it leave!”
is said by the man
as he orders me into another trench
alongside a young father from over the fence.
“We don’t need no socialism here!”
as those that got dictate to those who have not.
The young man turns to me and says;
“Meester, my boy is sick, do you know a doctor?”
“SHUT UP AND WORK WET BACK!”
The man shouts, and throws a dirt clod.
Fed up am I as I step from the hole.
The fat man looks at me and spits to the ground,
“What’s up with you LEEBERAL,
you tired of nigger work?”
Thirty days well spent in a tank of men.
A sore hand and a smile for knocking out another Neocon.
A good day’s work.
A month well spent.
